Assist wins in Government and Public Sector category at National AI Awards

Assist has won a National AI Award in the Government and Public Sector Category. The National AI Awards celebrates those developing pioneering technology, applying AI in ways that deliver public value, and ensuring that innovation is built on strong foundations of trust and responsibility.

We’re delighted to announce that Assist, our AI tool developed in-house for government communicators, has won the AI Award for Government and Public Sector at the National AI Awards.

This award recognises Assist as exceptional use of AI in public service. It was presented to our Applied Data and Insight team on 16 October 2025 at Adastral Park, Ipswich.

Dr. Amanda Svensson, Deputy Director of the Applied Data and Insight team, said:

“We are thrilled that Assist has won a National AI Award in the Government and Public Sector category. I’m incredibly proud to see our vision and holistic take on AI adoption recognised through this independent industry award. Ethics and responsible use has been a guiding principle throughout our creation and rollout of Assist.

“Achievements like this don’t happen overnight. A huge thank you to everyone who’s been involved in developing and making Assist a success. We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has taken the time to provide us with valuable feedback. Particular thanks to our superusers who have advocated for the tool and supported others to use it effectively. We couldn’t have done it without you!”

Fergus Bruce, Chief Executive Officer of the National AI Awards, praised the winners of this year’s event and said:

“The public service category shows us what responsible adoption looks like at scale. This year’s winners have proven how thoughtful application of AI can strengthen communities, improve access to services and build resilience where it matters most. In recognising their work, we honour those who ensure AI is not just powerful but purposeful. Thank you for your dedication to the public good.”

This year’s ceremony was hosted by Zoe Kleinmann, Technology Editor at the BBC. It  helped showcase the UK’s global leadership in AI and was a reminder of the unseen work that goes into building safe, ethical and transformative systems.

All Award winners were announced at the live event on 16 October. For more information on the other winners, visit the The National AI Awards website.
